About Purple Runway
Where Fashion Meets Philanthropy
Purple Runway is an annual fashion extravaganza with philanthropy at its heart. We use fashion as a platform to raise awareness and funding in order to support those who have endured domestic and intimate partner violence and are determined to overcome the resulting trauma and emotional distress.
To date, Purple Runway has served over 200 children and 1500 women and men by supporting national, international, and local organizations through school backpack drives, court advocacy, mentoring, and workshops. We work to promote change from a grassroots level along with rallying at a federal level for more non-invasive neuroscience procedures to heal the trauma and PTSD affecting many survivors.
Our organization has been supported by national organizations such as The National Network to End Domestic Violence, Purple Purse, Mercedes Benz, and Saks Fifth Avenue along with a span of social workers, therapists, psychotherapists, and world-renowned doctors as a viable solution for recovery.
In 2018 Purple Runway was endorsed by Senator Kaine of Virginia, noting how our holistic, integrative approach is a successful model for grassroots support and as a way to attack this epidemic of violence and abuse.
This year, we're expanding the scope of our mission to shift from awareness and empowerment to include education and authentic connection through our iThrive Sisterhood community launched during Women's History Month in 2019.
Throughout history, women have gathered in circles to heal, share, laugh, and grow. We believe that providing workshops around mindset, healthy relationships, and confidence will lend itself to preventive solutions while, at the same time, helping survivors transition more quickly than with conventional therapy on its own.
Together we can stand in the gap for those still in the struggle to empower these women and create a bridge of financial, emotional, and therapeutic support.
Where We're Going
To increase awareness and provide monetary support for those affected by Domestic Violence within our communities. Likewise, Purple Runway’s vision is to create a brighter future for women and children who are victims of Intimate abuse.
We can achieve this by increasing awareness and education surrounding the vital social services that are available and impact hundreds of victims every year in Washington, D.C. and around the country.
Our spectrum of services Purple Runway advocates for includes in-kind donations, housing, individual, teen and family education,mental/behavioral counseling, and financial support to help with self-sufficiency.
We know bringing people together for a great cause and to breathe elegance, poise, and creativity to a challenging topic of discussion for a cause is community service.
Donations are being accepted through our partnering organizations, to further the conversation and support about Domestic Violence.
In addition, we will celebrate successes of our partners and highlight our community members, sponsors, attendees and influencers who have committed to lead change for hopefuls.
